Alaska Botanical Gardens

The Alaska Botanical Garden provides visitors with a surprise: how many times has a visitor remarked, “they can grow plants that large in Alaska?” Yes! The gardens amaze visitors with their variety and vitality! Plan a walk to several of the specialty gardens including the Herb Garden. Each year, the Herb of the Year is featured - 2010’s choice is Dill. Bring the kids, reminding them not to pick, just look, smell, and even touch (gently!) Pets are asked to remain at home, and to decrease the interest of bears, please avoid bringing food, too.
There is an amazing peony collection that has been enhanced recently. The perennial garden is robust, and the newest garden is developing well - its first full year of growth is on display!
Consider becoming a member to support the ABG - you will be richly rewarded each time you visit. This weekend, the annual Garden Art Show is on display with amazing works by local artists.
